I Picked Up Two Males The Other Day
Did I tell you that I picked up two males the other day?
Read on possum, read on…
Fo Dogs are Chinese art[1], are a common representation of the lion in pre-modern China, which is believed to have powerful mythic protective powers that has traditionally stood in front of Chinese Imperial palaces, temples, emperors’ tombs, government offices, and the homes of government officials and the wealthy from the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), until the end of the empire in 1911.
The lions are always presented in pairs, with the male on the left and the female on the right. (I looked underneath in the crotch area, but nothing tells me which is which, so I guess I will have to guess.)
I love Chinese fu-dogs. I used to tell people that I got them on a trip to Bali, but then when they turn it over they saw the Pier One stamp. I still try to tell them that a local villager inscribed “THE PIER ONE” as a joke.
Who cares where I got them from!!!
Update:
I found this on the web-The male lion has his right paw on a ball, which represents the “Flower of life” The female is essentially identical, but has a single cub under her left paw, representing the cycle of life.
Okay I just looked again. They both have their paws on the ball!
Frig, not surprised I picked up two males!!!
And I can’t bring them back.
So there’s my story of me picking up two males at Pier One.
I know it is dry.
Oh well.
